FAQ

Should I prewash my fabric?

All of the fabric in our store is excellent, quilt-store quality fabric. Nothing needs to be prewashed! Machine wash cold/tumble dry low. If you feel like you need to prewash, please note that it is not recommended for any cuts smaller than a fat quarter.

What is a fat quarter?

Put most simply, a fat quarter is a quarter yard of fabric, cut fat (wide), instead of skinny.  Normally, fabric yardage is cut straight across the entire width of the fabric, meaning that a regular 1/4 yard is 9" tall and 44" long.  Rather skinny, all things considered.  With a fat quarter, it's cut half as wide, but twice as tall (approx. 18" tall and 22" wide).  The end result is the same square inches, but it's a much more "fat" piece, in comparison to a regular, skinny 1/4 yard.  Many sewists and crafters find fabric of this shape to be more useful in their projects.

Do you custom cut fat quarters?

Sorry, but we no longer offer this service. Aside from the few individual fat quarters we have for sale in the shop, fat quarters can now only be purchased as part of a larger bundle.
